They are also a problem for environmental quality. At the level of 2020, there were 1,502,169 vehicles registered in Bucharest. All of these emit noise during operation. The main pollutants associated with road traffic are nitrogen oxides, carbon monoxide, volatile organic compounds and particulate matter. The most intense traffic is registered between the hours of 7.00 &#8211; 10.00 and 16.00 &#8211; 20.00, associated with transport to educational institutions, workplaces and homes. On Fridays and Sundays, high traffic values occur at the exits to the highways and national roads between 16.00 and 20.00.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-2140ed7 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"2140ed7\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t<h3 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Sources of air quality degradation associated with transport activities<\/h3>\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-e2f167b elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"e2f167b\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In Bucharest in 2020 there were approximately 1,840,000 vehicles, of which:<\/span><\/p><ul><li aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">1,502,169 vehicles registered in Bucharest<\/span><\/li><\/ul><ul><li aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">200,000 Motor vehicles with provincial number plates, currently circulating in the capital<\/span><\/li><\/ul><ul><li aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">136,700 vehicles that transit the capital daily<\/span><\/li><\/ul><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The fuel they use is the following:<\/span><\/p><ul><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">1,204,201 Cars:<\/span><ul><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">54% gasoline<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">43.5% diesel<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span elementor-size-default\">Sources of air quality degradation in the City of Bucharest<\/h3>\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-ba05fa6 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"ba05fa6\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">According to studies, road transport is the main cause of air quality degradation. The pollutants obtained from road, air and rail transport are:<\/span><\/p><ul><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Nitrogen oxides <\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Carbon monoxide <\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Volatile organic compounds <\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Suspended particles <\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Freon <\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">aerosol<\/span><\/li><\/ul><ul><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Carbon monoxide<\/span><ul><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"3\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">According to Law no. 104\/15.06.2011 on the quality of the surrounding air, for carbon monoxide, the maximum daily value of 8-hour averages is 10 mg\/m3.<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"3\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Noise characteristic of areas with very intense road traffic in the city of Bucharest<\/span><\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ul><ul><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Sulfur dioxide<\/span><ul><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"3\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">According to Law no. 104\/15.06.2011 on the quality of the surrounding air, for sulfur dioxide, the hourly limit value is 350 \u03bcg\/m3, and the annual limit value is 20 \u03bcg\/m3.<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"3\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The use of diesel fuel with a very low sulfur content has determined a significant decrease in the importance of road traffic in sulfur dioxide pollution.<\/span><\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ul><ul><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Other damages<\/span><ul><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"3\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For benzene, the main source is represented by road traffic and activities that transport these substances.<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"3\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Lead and volatile organic compounds (V.O.V.) are the main source of these noxes is road traffic.<\/span><\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ul>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-3cffc07 elementor-widget elementor-widget-spacer\" data-id=\"3cffc07\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"spacer.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-spacer\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-spacer-inner\"><\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-4213198 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"4213198\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Transport infrastructure in the City of Bucharest<\/h2>\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-4b27d35 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"4b27d35\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The city of Bucharest is Romania&#8217;s most important road, rail and air hub. It is connected to 3 highways (A1, A2 and A3), 8 national roads, 11 county roads, 6 railway highways and 1 international airport.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The total length of the streets is 3,432 km, of which 2,558 km are modernized. The street network consists of:<\/span><\/p><ul><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">category I streets \u2014 main roads (boulevards or roads with at least six lanes), which ensure the connection of the central area of the city with the national and county network<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> second category streets \u2014 connecting streets (have at least four lanes), which make the connections between the functional areas of the city and residential spaces <\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">category III streets \u2013 collection streets (have at least two lanes), which take over the flows from the functional areas and ensure the relationship between category I and II streets <\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">category IV streets \u2014 for local use, which ensure access to living spaces and current services<\/span><\/li><\/ul>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-a049396 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"a049396\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t<h4 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Parking spaces in Bucharest<\/h4>\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-181629e elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"181629e\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The 6 sector town halls reported a total stock of residential parking spaces below 200,000 for the whole of Bucharest.
